The Luminact team was delighted to attend the 2017 Defence + Industry conference, held in Canberra on Wednesday 14 June. The annual event affords industry and Defence the opportunity to share updates and discuss key issues, with a strong focus on collaboration. This year the engagement of local Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was a focal point for the plenary sessions, and featured some interesting Q&A panel discussions.
The conference was very relevant for Luminact, as both an SME and a service provider in the defence sector. Our mission is to help deliver capability and defence projects under ASDEFCON by simplifying the process, and bringing significant industry experience and lessons learned to benefit our clients. It was of particular interest to hear about the experiences of SMEs and prime contractors from both sides, and the issues they face in doing business together. Luminact has the ability to bridge this gap and de-risk engagements through intelligent project and commercial arrangements, and by assisting small businesses to understand Defence and prime contractor requirements early on in the project life-cycle.
We look forward to following up with the numerous people we met, from an array of fantastic companies, and further working with our partners to help them deliver on the huge potential that is evident within the industry. Our strong belief is that the Australian defence sector is vibrant, innovative, and well positioned to help deliver the $10B of capability required by the ADF over the next decade, as well as capture significant potential export opportunities.
Overall the Luminact experience of D+I was very positive and we thank CASG and all the participants and speakers for sharing their insights and making the conference both a valuable and enjoyable event!
